Educational Plan for Students in Grades 9 - 12
Ontario Secondary School Diploma
The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) will be awarded to students who successfully complete 30 credits including 22 compulsory credits and 8 optional credits. Such credits will be based on the discipline specific expectations and assessment policies as set out in the provincial curriculum policy documents.
In addition, a student must complete 40 hours of Christian Community Service and successfully complete the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Requirement. All students are required to take a Religious Education course in each year of secondary school. The following chart lists the compulsory credit requirements. |

- 4 credits in Theology (1 credit per grade)
- 4 credits in English (1 credit per grade)
- 1 credit in French as a Second Language
- 3 credits in Mathematics (at least 1 credit in Grade 11 or 12)
- 2 credits in Science
- 1 credit in Canadian History
- 1 credit in Canadian Geography
- 1 credit in the Arts
- 1 credit in Health and Physical Education
- 0.5 credits in Civics
- 0.5 Credits in Career Studies
Plus
- 1 additional credit in English, or a third language, or Social Sciences and the Humanities, or Canadian World Studies (or cooperative education)
- 1 additional credit in Health and Physical Education, or the Arts, or Business Studies (or cooperative education)
- 1 additional credit in Science (Grade 11 or 12) or Technological Education (Grades 9-12) (or cooperative education)
