Wrestling News

After a good year, the Gryphon wrestling is hoping to improve on their CIS performance and make a run at capturing the CIS title in both men and women.  On the men’s side, with only two graduating students, look to be strong.  They are looking for strong performances from their veterans to help guide a large group of new faces.  The team will be led by fourth year English student Rory McDonell and 1st year Master student Kevin Christiaens, after both having up and down seasons, these two are looking to climb the ladder and make their presence known.  Also returning to the line up will be Matt Sparling and Justin Billingham.  The gryphon men are also looking to rookie standouts, Andrew Townshend and Nic Gavel, to help push the men’s team to the top.  With many new students on this team anyone could have the potential to make an impact.

On the women’s side, the team will be led by OUA gold medalist, Meaghan Wilton, to lead the gryphon women.  The gryphon rookie sensation from last year, Leanne Ashworth, will be looking on improving on her CIS bronze medal.  The women’s team will be looking for some new comers’ to step up and help the gryphon’s to victory.
