PLAYERS AND EQUIPMENT
Section 1- Gamesheet
Team captains must register each of their team members on the game sheet along with jersey numbers for each player prior to gametime.
Section 2- Uniform
2 point technical foul is assessed for each player out of uniform at the start of the game.
Section 3 - Rosters
A player is ineligible for a game if he is not on the gamesheet by halftime. If the player shows up after halftime, he is not allowed to play.
To qualify for playoffs, a player must have played 8 games for their team. No players may be added to a team after Christmas break. A player must be on a team roster unless an agreement is in place with the league convenor or opponent prior to the game. Teams have the right to refuse a request of this nature. A player protest must take place within 24 hours after a game.
Section 4 - Minimum Players
If a team fails to field 4 players by game time, then that team will receive a default. Teams have a five minute count from game start time to produce the appropriate number of players or the game is a forfeit. Scorekeeper will start the clock at 23 minutes and run until 18 minutes (at which point the game becomes a forfeit). The time ran off will be taken off the first half of the game. Any team winning by default will win by a score of 100 - 70. In the event of a double default both teams will receive a loss and a forfeit. Teams with only four players will have to play short-handed, 4 against 5 unless the other team agrees to play 4 on 4. If a team does not have 5 players at the start of the game, they have a roster violation (loss of bonus point). Borrowed or sub players will result in an automatic default.
Section 5- Payment
Players who have not paid or who have made arrangements with league convenor by October 20th will cost team bonus point in standings. Players that have not paid in full by Dec 1st will be removed from roster until their league fee is paid. Teams that pay a $1500 fee by specified day are able to specify their roster, otherwise the league convenor can modify.
RULE 3- SCORING
Scoring
2 points will be given for a basket
4 points for a shot behind the arc
5 points from behind half court
Foul Shot (Act Of Shooting)
One foul shot is given for a shot taken in the act of shooting. It will be a shot from the foul line worth 2 points.
* If a player is fouled in the act of shooting from behind the 3 point line, the player gets two shots from the foul line worth 2 points. If the original shot is made, the player still receives an opportunity for a 2 point foul shot.
Foul Shot (Penalty Situation)
After a team has received 7 fouls in a half, one foul shot is given for each foul thereafter. It will be a shot from the foul line worth 2 points. Therefore, the fouled player will receive 2 shots worth 2 points each. No automatic bonus in last minute.
Foul Shot (When A Player Has 6 Fouls)
After a player has six fouls, the opposing team (player who has been fouled) is allowed to shoot two foul shots worth 2 points each. The team that was fouled is NOT awarded possesion.
Technical Foul
Foul shot is worth 2 points. Opposing team receives possession of the ball at mid court. A player is given a technical foul on a flagrant foul (any foul where the player does not make a play on the ball initially). Flagrant fouls result in 2 foul shots and team possession of the ball.
RULE 5- VIOLATIONS
Violations in the backcourt are to be taken at the sidebar on the court.
Out of bounds violations do not need to be touched in by a ref in the backcourt. The ball can be quickly entered into play by team at sidebar in the backcourt. No substitutions are allowed on out of bounds violations in the backcourt.
After fouls on the defensive end are committed, the ball has to be touched in official.
Substitutions can only be made on fouls, or travel or double dribble calls.
A substitution has to be allowed in by a referee and can only be made when a team is on offense and has possession of the ball (therefore player has to ask for sub before play is started or scorer's table has to be alerted to substitution.)
RULE 6- PROTESTS
Game protests must be done with 24 hours of the game. |
