ALLAN BEAVER
Allan Beaver is a member of the Bigstone Cree Nation in Desmarais, Alberta. After graduating from the Mistassiniy School, Allan left his community to pursue some of his wildest dreams in athletics and education. A former great all-around athlete, Allan competed in volleyball, basketball, fastball, and long-distance running.

After winning many sports awards in high school, Allan was selected to play for the Jr. Men's Provincial Volleyball Team (1986)and represented Alberta at the Arctic Winter Games held in Whitehorse Yukon. Allan also participated in three international marathons including the world's largest, the New York City Marathon in 1991, and the Toronto Marathon (1988) (assisted by his coach and trainer Jim Mombourquette) and the Los Angeles Marathon (1992). He was also a participant at the 1988 Canadian 10 km Championships in Mississauga, Ontario. His running career came to a complete stop after a tragic vehicle accident almost took his life in 1996.
He has been a Sports Columnist for Native Journal (based in Edmonton, Alberta) for 10 years and his very interesting sports column is called 'Running Around.' He also has a weekly submission with Slave River Journal (Fort Smith, NT), and is presently the Editor of the 'Call Of The Eagle (Fort Chipewyan, AB).'
Allan Beaver does some speaking engagements as he shares his powerful personal story of empowerment and motivation. He has certainly overcome a lot if resiliency and shares that in his workshops throughout Canada and the United States. A story of personal triumph of the human spirit, Allan Beaver will expand your life to challenge yourself to reach your full potential.
